Intermediate/Youth

Players that register for one of the first two tournaments will receive a discount code/link to purchase tickets to the men indoor volleyball matches held at TD Place from June 7-12 as part of the Volleyball Nations League. Details forthcoming.

START:

Tournaments will start at 9:00 am. Finals will typically start no later than 4:00 pm.

There will be no technical meeting before tournaments.Teams do not need to sign in and can go to their courts on tournament day and start warming up for their first match.


FORMAT:

Round Robin in the morning. Pools of 3-5 teams. Teams will play 2 sets or a best of 3 against each team. Lunch break after.

Playoffs in the afternoon. Best of 3. Single Elimination. Teams that lose will be asked to scorekeep/referee for remaining teams.

All teams are guaranteed 6 sets. Most will play 8-12.

Seeding: Teams will be seeded based on results from both last summer and this summer. Last summers point system was integrated with MyTeam.Click.

  • We were able to integrate it using email addresses players used to register. If you changed your email address and you wanted to keep your ranking from last summer, please let us know so we can make the change on our end!


BBQ:

On select dates (see list of dates above) there will be a free BBQ lunch. The lunch will be offered to any player that stays and watches the men, women, coed competitive/open final. Non-players can purchase a lunch for $5 a person, while quantities last.

On other days, players are responsible for their own lunches.


RULES:

  • Rules for Coed apply: men must hit behind the 3m line and cannot block girls.
  • For Coed Fours, minimum of two girls on the court at all times.
  • Penalties will apply to teams that show up late for any match. (See rules page above).
  • Timeouts: Teams can call one timeout per set. The technical time out (both scores total 21 points) MUST be taken if one team wants it. It can be skipped if both agree.

Exception: Men and Women 4s will be played using indoor rules, on a short 8x8 court.


REFEREES:

There will be no referees for Max Volley Tournaments. Players are asked to call their own faults (net touches, hand setting errors etc). If there are any disagreements, please re-serve the point. If disagreements escalate, see Max Volley Staff.

Teams that are eliminated during playoffs are asked to scorekeep/referee if the remaining teams request it.

If youth have any questions about the rules of the game, please do not hesitate to see staff on site near the white tents!

Exception: A ref will be assigned for the youth divisions to answer questions about rules during the day and to officiate the 16U finals, if there are enough teams. What constitutes enough team will be up to our discretion.


GAME BALLS:

Players are responsible for providing their own game balls. Max Volley will be selling game balls at the beginning of the season while quantities last (see main website or onsite staff for details).


FACILITIES:

There will be porta potties for players to use. There is a hose for washing, and the water is potable.

There is limited shade under the white tents. Players are asked to bring their own tents/umbrellas etc for cover and their own chairs.

There are 34 courts at the facility. The posts are numbered beside each respective court. Court 1 is the first court east of the white tents. Here is a map of the courts for reference: https://maxvolley.leagueapps.com/pages/courtmaps.


WEATHER:

Tournaments are rain or shine. Games will be delayed in case of thunderstorms. Tournaments will only be cancelled under extreme circumstances.


MYTEAM.CLICK:

This year, registrations, schedules, score entry, pool stats and playoff calculations will be done using an app made specifically for volleyball. During tournaments, players will enter scores directly into the mobile app and stats will be calculated in real time. To download the app, search for MyTeam.Click on the app store or google play. DEADLINES:

Registration: The deadline to register is the Wednesday before any given tournament at 11:55 pm. If late teams are given entry, they will be charged a late fee of $10.

Refunds: The deadline to receive a refund for withdrawing is the Tuesday before any given tournament. See below.


REFUNDS:

Refunds will be given to teams that withdraw before the refund deadline, but are subject to a $5 handling fee. Refunds will NOT be given to teams that withdraw AFTER the deadline.

If a team wishes to withdraw, they can do so through MyTeam.Click, there is no need to send us an email.

Refunds will be given if a tournament is cancelled.


COST:

Open 2s: $80 a team

Competitive 2s: $70 a team

Intermediate 2s: $70 a team

Youth 2s: $70 a team

Open Fours: $120 a team

Int Fours: $100 a team

To register a team, captains will be required to create a profile. To add team members, only their email address, first name and last name are needed. Adding all team members will result in a more accurate seeding. Only players who are part of a team can enter scores in the mobile app.


TEAMS PER DIVISION:

The number of open spots per division will fluctuate based on the interest in each. For example: if there is a waiting list for Intermediate, and many spots remaining for Open, the number of available spots will increase for Intermediate and decrease for Open.

Minimum four teams in a division to run.


PRIZES:

Volleyball Nations League and Volleyball Canada will be providing prizes for the first two tournaments. Prizes will include free tickets for the winners of the Top Competitive Division, and merchandise for the remaining divisions. Details forthcoming.

The remaining tournaments will use the following guidelines:

Cash prize for AA playoffs in the Open Divisions.

4 or more teams: $120 (No A Playoffs)

8 or more teams: $240 (No A Playoffs)

12 or more teams: $260 / A playoffs

16 or more teams: $380 / A playoffs

20 or more teams: $460 / A & B playoffs

24 or more teams: $580 / A & B playoffs

28 or more teams: $700 / A & B playoffs

32 or more teams: $800 / A & B playoffs
