2012 Max Volley League Info

The 2012 Summer season will run from the week of May 13th through to August 10th. Playoffs (all teams qualify for playoffs) will follow and will run for 2 weeks. (no games July 1st to July 6th) Games will run during the other long weekends.

The start time is 6:30 sharp on a nightly basis; it is suggested that teams show up at least 15 minutes ahead of time in order to give themselves sufficient time to warm-up.

The west leagues play at the Bell Sensplex, the east leagues play at Shefford courts or Leitrim courts depending on your tier.

Returning Teams Ranking Procedure

Returning teams (teams that have one player returning are considered returning teams) must indicate the overall spot you finished in the league last year. (not where you finished in playoffs nor within your division) This will be available via a link on the register page -2011 league results- and have the rankings (1 through 120) posted next to your team name. Returning teams will be ranked according to the 2011 final ranking, before playoffs.

New Teams Ranking

For new teams, the categories are as follows:

AA- Intended for teams that have high level beach volleyball experience

A- Competitive

B- Intermediate

C- Recreational

New teams in the East leagues will be required to play in a ranking tournament on May 12th (Men’s 2's at 8am and Women’s 2s at 1pm) and May 13th (Coed 2s at 8:30am). All other new teams will be placed in the league based on the category they have selected during registration. If you are not sure what category to choose please choose the lower one. Max Volley reserves the right to shift teams up or down a few tiers based on their results over the first 3 weeks of the season.

League Tiering

Once the season starts and teams have been placed in tiers based on the above, the tiering system will work as follows: Most tiers will be composed of three teams. These teams will play 2 sets to 21 against the other two teams in their tier. The team with the best results will move up one tier the following week, the second place team will remain in that tier, and the losing team will be bumped down one tier for the following week. Captains will be asked to update their results on the website weekly as scheduling will be automated.

Weather Policy

The league will be run rain or shine (unless there are thunderstorms or severe flooding). Please consult the court status boxes that are available on the first page of the website to see if the league is cancelled for the night when there is inclement weather. There are usually no make-up nights as the league is intended to be 10 weeks in a 12 week period, plus playoffs.

Registration Deadline

Early registration special: Register and pay online before March 21, 2012 and pay 2011 prices.

Pay in person locations: The lobby of the Potvin Arena March 9th or March 23rd between 5pm - 7pm, or the lobby of the Sensplex March 16th between 5pm - 7pm

The registration and payment deadline is May 1st, after this a 20$ late fee will apply. Spots in the league are first come, first serve, so make sure you sign up early!

Refund Policy

There are no refunds after the first league games. A 20$ admin fee will be incurred for a refund before the first league games.

No Shows, new policy 2012

If your team cannot play, and are not able to find subs, you are required to notify us at least 2 hours before game time: noshow_shefford@maxvolley.com, noshow_leitrim@maxvolley.com, noshow_kanata@maxvolley.com. If this is not done, your team will be bumped down 2 tiers. If this happens more than once, your team will be removed from the league.
